As fun as it can be remodeling your home, it can also be tiring as you try to figure out all the things that you want to change in your home. Below is a breakdown of the most common items home owners change out when remodeling. There is a great deal of items that you can replace which will make a huge difference in the final display.
Counter Tops : When replacing counter tops, most people are looking for something that is easy to maintain. Quartz counter tops are much easier to clean and take care of then Granite counter tops. The Granite counter tops add a bit of flare but they do need to be certain and cleaned on a regular basis due to the Granite being porous. Keep in mind that the Granite counter tops will add a measure of increased resale value to your kitchen.
Cabinets: The cabinets in your home are one of the first things that people notice and one of the most common items that get changed out when people remodel. Most people today appear to prefer the traditional wood cabinets with either a Maple or Cherry finish, steering clear of the dark finishes. Another democratic type of cabinet is the Contemporary style but some people are also going with a Shaker style which offers a painted and glazed finish.
Back Splashes: This is something that you can really play with. You can go with glass, ceramic, or porcelain tiles in a variety of colours to match your cabinets and/or counter tops. Some people prefer to go with a stainless steel back splash as they find it easier to take care of especially if they use their kitchen heavily.
Faucets: The most democratic types of finishes you will see on faucets are stainless steel, satin nickel, and brushed nickel. More and more people ar opting for a pull-out faucet. It makes preparation soup or pasta dishes much easier. You can have the pot filler faucet installed right above the stove for just this purpose.
Floors: More and more people are getting free of their carpets and opting for something simpler to take care of such as tiled flooring or hard wood flooring. If you want something with a design then you will want to go with either ceramic, natural stone or porcelain tiles. If you want floor that will stand the test of time then hardwood is the way to go. This type of flooring can easily be sanded down and refinished when they get to worn.
Kitchen Appliances: Dishwashers ar in just about every home or flat that you go into. The most common type of dishwasher installed is the pull down drawer type which is great for those with a large family. If you ar a single person or you have a small family then you may want to go with a drawer dishwasher. It will do a small load and save you space in the kitchen.
Oven/stove: There are so many types and sizes to choose from when it comes to your range. If you do a great deal of preparation you may want to go with a double oven with a separate cook top. You can find this in a duel fuel oven where the oven is electric and the cook top is gas.
Refrigerators and Freezers: One of the most pop styles of refrigerators is the type with the French doors on the top and the freezer on the bottom. If you do not want to deal with the bending then you can go for the side by side icebox and freezer. If you have the space and you do a great deal of cookery you may want to get a stand alone freezer for the extra space.
If you have a large kitchen you may want to consider having a large center island. It can be used for a variety of things such as extra storage space, eating, and even an extra sink. Many people are making their kitchens more ergonomic so you may want to think about varying your cabinet’s high and add in some perks such as in-kitchen work station, some sliding drawers or possibly a roll out spice rack. Think about convenience when remodeling your kitchen and you won’t go wrong.
